Previously, Chula Sukmanop has been the General of Office of Transport, Traffic Policy and Planning, and General of Ministry of Transport. He also represents Board of Director, Port Authority of Thailand and Board of Director in Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand.

Currently, Mr. Žiemelis holds the role as the Chairman of the Board at Avia Solutions Group – an international aviation holding company with 76 subsidiaries worldwide. In recent years Gediminas has as well led and consulted aircraft leasing and trading business for transactions worth in total 2 billion US dollars. Mr. Žiemelis leadership skills were also recognized by the European Business Awards, where he received the award in the entrepreneurship category for his visionary inspiration and innovative approach to proactive aviation business development.

Andreas Jahnke

Dr. Andreas Jahnke is the CEO of Lufthansa Consulting, based in Frankfurt. Besides his overarching responsibility, he supports airlines, airports and investor groups mainly in Europe and Asia-Pacific. Most recently, he has been supporting governments to restructure legacy carriers facing strong competition from low cost airlines. He has a background in management consulting in various industries, with a strong focus on developing strategic concepts and implementing process improvements. In addition, he gained his experience in different line functions for international companies with a focus on logistics, IT, retail and the aviation industry.

Richard Stephenson OBE
Communications Director, UK Civil Aviation Authority, Operation Matterhorn

Richard joined the CAA in 2015 as communications director where he leads the multi-award winning strategic communications function and has overseen a number of major issues and crisis situations, including the repatriation of both Monarch and Thomas Cook passengers. He has held senior communications roles in high profile businesses including as group strategic communications advisor at Centrica plc, director of corporate affairs at AXA and group director of public relations at Royal Mail Group, following 10 years working in agencies including Citigate Dewe Rogerson and Smithfield. Richard was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s New Year Honours in 2019 for his public and charitable service. He was also named as the ‘Communications Professional of the Year’ by CorpComms Magazine in November 2019. Richard has been a prolific charity fundraiser and has climbed Kilimanjaro and traversed New Zealand and the Arctic for good causes. Richard has served in many roles supporting a range of charities, including as the chairman of the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home corporate engagement board and is currently the honorary president of Kids Count and also chairman of the John Adams Society, the US State Department’s alumni association in the UK.

Vice President and Head of Global Sales

Steve Smith is a 38-year airline industry veteran who has held numerous key positions in sales and marketing throughout his career. Now, in his new role of Vice President and Head of Global Sales of Japan Airlines, he works closely with the airline’s corporate sales teams throughout the world, primarily with the Global Corporate and T.M.C. channels to generate premium business, and he also works closely with JAL’s Joint Business Partners throughout the world. Before joining Japan Airlines, Steve spent 25 years with Delta Air Lines holding several leadership positions including Managing Director for Worldwide Sales at the airline’s Atlanta Headquarters in 2001. Previous to that assignment, he was Director of Sales and Marketing for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, while based in London.

Director General

Holding an MBA in Finance & Real Estate Investments, Roman Bokeria is currently leading a position of Director General for the national air company of Georgia “Georgian Airways”.  Mr. Bokeria has diplomas of Law and Bank Management.

Residing in the USA, he held various positions in private sector and public agencies. He was a CEO of Miami Red Square Realty. While working in Miami, his name was associated with many projects of Trump International. Joseph Makonise

Joseph Makonise was appointed acting Chief Executive Officer for the national flag carrier, Air Zimbabwe in 2017 on the back of his vast experience in the airline industry spanning over 35 years. Joseph has broad expertise with a longer tenure spent heading different sections in the operations and engineering departments that have contributed immensely to the national Airline’s impeccable safety record. During this time, the national Airline received commendations of excellence from Boeing as well as becoming the first Airline in Africa to successfully execute a Strut Improvement program on the B767-200ER. Joseph Makonise was recently awarded Gold winner of the Resilient Personality of the Year 2019 Award by the Megafest Business Awards in Harare, for his sterling efforts in ensuring a sustained going-concern status of the National Airline as it navigates the turbulent economic environment.

Former CEO and Vice Chairman

Patee Sarasin is aviation and travel industry pioneer. With educational background in business administration and mass communication, he launched career in advertising agency Lintas in 1983, then worked with NBC, the U.S. television network. In 1992, Patee was appointed CEO of Bates Advertising Thailand, which under his management became the fastest growing advertising agency in Thailand. In 2004, Patee became CEO of a new airline Nok Air. Under Patee’s leadership, Nok Air saw rapid growth in terms of revenue, passenger numbers and destinations, becoming a renowned innovator in the low cost market. Leaving Nok Air in mid-2017, Patee is now involved in a range of aviation, travel and entertainment enterprises, grouped together under his DDG International group, based in Bangkok.

Siddhartha Butalia is Chief Marketing Officer of AirAsia India, an AirAsia Investment and Tata Sons JV. He has an MBA in Marketing & Strategy, is a post-graduate in Mass Communication and graduated with Honours in Economics from Delhi University. Siddhartha is a published author, a futurist and seasoned speaker on travel & tourism at seminars across the world. Siddhartha began his career in advertising at Ogilvy and JWT, working on campaigns that won awards at Cannes and the Asia Pacific AdFest and managing accounts like Unilever and Nestlé. As a Tata Administrative Services Officer, he developed the internationalisation strategy for the ‘Tata’ brand in the US, UK, China & Africa; was Brand Manager for Tetley Tea in the UK; and Marketing Director at Taj hotels in London and Mumbai, where he launched the Vivanta brand (now a Harvard Case Study) and contributed to the Tata group’s European Union agenda.

He has been working at Embraer for more than 10 years. He started as a market analyst in the Market Intelligence Department and later became Senior Strategist, responsible for long-term market research, competitive positioning, strategic marketing initiatives and assessment of market demand for current and new products. Prior to the current position, he was the Head of Market Strategy leading the development, communication and execution for the organization’s global strategic planning.

Spencer Lee
Chief Executive Officer

Spencer was appointed CEO of BIGLIFE, the company that operates AirAsia’s loyalty programme, in end 2018. He joined the AirAsia group in 2006, serving AirAsia with several key roles under his belt.

In 2015, Spencer took on the role of Commercial Director of AirAsia Malaysia, overseeing multiple portfolios including marketing, sales and distribution, digital, ancillary, government relations, revenue management, partnerships and loyalty. His zeal has led him to pioneer key projects within the group, including setting up the airline’s first loyalty programme – AirAsia BIG – a key milestone in his professional career. Other successful projects include establishing the ancillary income department within the company and launching new financial products, such as co-branded cards in partnership with regional banks. In the last 2 years of his service in the capacity of Commercial Director, he grew the commercial revenue by 258% with only 121% capacity increase.

With 13 years of experience, Spencer now holds responsibility to transform the AirAsia BIG loyalty programme into a comprehensive lifestyle platform, rewarding BIG Members in more ways than one with BIG Points, today’s universal digital currency. Under his leadership, in the short span of one year, the company’s revenue increased remarkably by almost 60% compared to the year before.

Daniel Bircher
CEO

Daniel Bircher is Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Airport International Asia and is accountable for Zurich Airport’s regional office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prior to this role, he was Chief Operations Officer at the Aeroporto International de Belo Horizonte (Brazil) being accountable for the operations of Belo Horizonte International Airport. Mr. Bircher has been Director Operations with Bangalore International Airport (India) and earlier Head of Safety and member of the Zurich Airport Operations Management at Zurich Airport where he was also responsible for liaison with Swiss, European and International regulatory bodies. Mr. Bircher was a long-standing member of the ACI World Safety Technical Standing Committee and Chairman of the ACI World Operational Safety Subcommittee.

Marcelo is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) since 2000 and has been actively involved with the institute for 20+ years. He is also a former Director of the Project Management Institute (PMI)’s Southern Ontario Chapter, in Canada.

Director, Air Transport SATCOM

In 2020, Mark ter Hove will celebrate 25 years of working in front line of aviation. He spent 11 years leading operations at two UK based carriers before taking on a role as an airline network manager at Gatwick Airport. In a position of leadership, Mark served the Military customer as part of the Boeing organization (Jeppesen) and the Commercial Aviation sector with Navtech (now NAVBLUE, an Airbus company) with navigational and operational solutions for over a decade. Since 2016, first with Inmarsat and more recently with Cobham, Mark has been leading the connected aircraft evolution by connecting airlines, aircraft, ANSP’s and airports. In his current role with Cobham Aerospace Communications Mark carries a global responsibility working closely with application vendors, aircraft OEM’s, datalink operators, the regulatory environment, design organizations and the airline community.

As Chief Commercial Officer at the Winnipeg Airports Authority and Managing Director of Airport City Winnipeg, Mr. Bélanger oversees all commercial activities, including Aviation Marketing, Air Cargo, Planning and Development, as well as Real Estate. Prior to that, Mr. Bélanger held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer at Aéroport de Québec inc., where he provided strategic and operational leadership as well as managed the planning and construction phases of a major terminal redevelopment project, which was opened in 2008.

Raj Raghavan
Senior Vice President, Head of Human Resources

Raj Raghavan leads the HR function at IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share. A key member of IndiGo’s Executive Committee, he has responsibility for all aspects of Human Resources including ifly (IndiGo’s Learning Academy) and Administration functions. Prior to this, he was Amazon’s Head of Human Resources (Asia Pacific & Middle East) for their International Consumer Business and Global Technology Development Centers in the region. He joined Amazon in early 2011 as their India Director of Human Resources and supported the launch of several Amazon businesses and technology development centers in the country. Earlier, Raj was Head of HR for GE’s Global Research and India Technology Centers.

Grekdej Chand
Director-Flight Operations Standard

Capt. Grekdej Chand has been working professionally since 1990, including consultancy services to aviation industry since 2000. Capt. Chand’s initial education was acquired in India, starting with aviation education in Thailand from 1987. Since then Mr. Chand had completed Commercial Pilot license, Designated Check Pilot, IOSA auditor, ICAO English rater and checker, Airline Management and other aviation related courses. In present day Mr. Chand is Director-Flight Operations Standard for Bangkok Airways, a committee member for Samui, Sukothai and Trat airport and a member of Instrument Chart Development in Thailand. Mr. Chand flies Airbus 319/320 with the position of Captain/Flight & Sim Instructor/Designated Check Pilot appointed by Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. At the moment Mr. Chand is working on new projects development at Bangkok Aviation Training Centre and at various  other initiatives in commercial aviation sector.

Chor Chee Hoe
Head of Maintenance Support & Services

Chor Chee Hoe is associated with Firefly Airlines since June 2012. He is an aircraft maintenance engineer who holds EASA Part 66 B1 License and CAA Malaysia license. He has worked at various positions in line maintenance, base maintenance, maintenance support, components and tools management, as well as training instructor. Aside from the technical qualification, he also holds Bachelor’s Degree in Management. He is the current Head of Maintenance Support and Services, of Firefly Airlines.

Principal – Mastercard Data & Services

Andreas Spycher is Principal at Mastercard and based in Singapore. In this role, his focus lies on leading the development of Mastercard Data & Service solutions in the airline, hotel and travel operator industry. His aim is to support and consult travel companies to sell more of their services, drive better customer and loyalty engagement with Mastercard data insights and technologies and increase their customer experience with effective loyalty and payment services. Prior to joining Mastercard, Andreas worked at two major card issuing banks. He launched multiple co-brand card programs and integrated airline miles programs into banking portfolios. Andreas holds an MBA from the University of St. Gall in Switzerland. During his broad carrier, Andreas has lived and worked in China, Korea, Germany, Belgium, Italy, USA, Switzerland and now in Singapore. Andreas speaks six languages.

David Ciceo
Managing Director Romanian Airports Association – President

David Ciceo is the CEO of Cluj-Napoca International Airport for more than 20 years. During his tenure, David had striven to transform the airport in one of the busiest regional hubs in Romania. Currently, the airport is the second biggest in the country, serving almost 3 million passengers. He graduated from the Faculty for Aircraft Engineering, Polytechnic University of Bucharest. He holds a PhD in airport management from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and two MBAs – from Open University, Milton Keynes, Great Britain and John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, Montreal. In 2009 David obtained the status of International Airport Professional (IAP). Other functions held: President of Romanian Airports Association since 1999; Vice-President of IAP-CoP Board of Directors since 2012; member of ACI Europe Board 2011-2017, and again from 2018 for a three years term.

Rohit Singh Tomar
Director Planning and Analyst

Rohit Singh Tomar gathered over 14 years of aviation experience encompassing roles in engineering, ground operations, strategy, planning and finance across various airlines. He’s currently heading the financial planning and analysis division at Vietjet. His work has led to formulation of key government initiatives in India to support Air traffic growth across India within the famous program called UDAN which would mobilize more than 100 regional airports across India. He has also been part of the core turnaround team for Spicejet in India, one of the top turnaround stories across the world. A strong proponent of technology and innovation in the airline industry, Rohit Singh Tomar aims to create a differentiation with customer at the epicenter of the airline business model.

Dr. Narudh Cheramakara
Director of Aviation Research

Dr. Narudh received his Air Transport doctorate from Loughborough University in UK specialising in aviation externalities. As the head of Nok Air’s research department, he is responsible for overseeing research, strategic planning and route network development. He is also a non-executive director at a media venture capitalist firm, Topten Capital and a travel and food critic at Toptenthailand.com. In academia, Narudh has been publishing research in the areas of airport competition, environmental impact of aviation and valuation of aviation externalities. He also appears in a number of printed media and radio giving expert-opinion on the state of the aviation industry.

Andy Cohen
Head of ATOL

Andy Cohen is currently the Head of ATOL (Air Travel Organisers Licensing) at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Andy has been in the post for 12 years and has responsibility for licensing UK tour operators, enforcement of the ATOL regulations and crisis management (Repatriation of UK Citizens). During the past three years Andy played a leading role in the operational management of both the repatriation of Monarch and Thomas Cook passengers. Prior to joining the CAA Andy worked for the London Metropolitan Police working directly with the public on law enforcement. Andy is married with two sons both of which now work in the travel sector and his passion revolves round sport particularly his beloved Arsenal.

Andrey Borisevich
Owner & CEO

Andrey started his aviation career in 2006 as a private pilot. Then he started flying aerobatic on Yak-52 and became an aerobatic instructor in 2007. In 2011 Andrey started flying helicopters. He got PPL(h) flying Robinson R44 and R66 and became Head of the Aviation expedition department in Russian Helicopter company “Heliport Moscow.” Since 2013 Andrey has flown in the US as a commercial pilot and became a flight instructor in 2016. Now Andrey is assistant chief pilot, owner, and CEO of SkyEagle Aviation Academy. Airline Transport Pilot, 4000 hours, 1500 as a flight instructor, Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot since November 2017.

Magnar Nordal is captain at Bangkok Airways. Before joining Bangkok Airways, he spent 11 years with Coast Air in Norway as captain, type rating instructor and type rating examiner on BAE Jetstream and ATR aircraft. From the year of 2000, Magnar was Head of Training until the company ceased operations in 2008. At that time, ATR Training Centre in Toulouse initiated an enterprise that later became ETOPS SAS (Enhanced Training Operations and Safety SAS). Magnar became one of the first two ATR instructors for ETOPS. Some years later, he became Head of Training. This work kept him busy with simulator training and line training for ATR customers in Europe and Southeast Asia. From 2012, Magnar spent three years as an instructor for Villa Air in the Maldives and then 12 months in Taiwan with TransAsia. Steve Smith is a 38-year airline industry veteran, who has held numerous key positions in sales and marketing throughout his notable career.  In 2006, Steve joined Japan Airlines to lead the carrier’s corporate and agency sales activities.  Now, in his new role of Vice President and Head of Global Sales, he works closely with the airline’s corporate sales teams throughout the world, primarily with the Global Corporate and T.M.C. channels to generate premium business, and he also works closely with JAL’s Joint Business Partners throughout the world.

Before joining Japan Airlines, Steve spent 25 years with Delta Air Lines holding several leadership positions including Managing Director for Worldwide Sales at the airline’s Atlanta Headquarters in 2001.  Previous to that assignment, he was Director of Sales and Marketing for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, while based in London.

Prior to the Europe assignment, Steve was the regional director for sales and marketing for the Northeastern Region, including the New York City market. Steve has also led sales and marketing teams in important U.S. business markets such as Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Houston, and in key mid-markets such as Louisville, Tulsa and Jacksonville.

Steve is currently a member of the IATAN Board of Directors and also formerly served on the GBTA Aviation Committee as the International Airlines Representative. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, and a native of the sunshine state. He has personal interests in football, sailing, travel and golf.

He mastered on aviation managment and the use of air assets in the Conflict Zones too. In his 30 long years of experinec in aviation, he Commanded two Fighter Squadrons of BAF with unique professional acheivements on safety. He recieved ‘Air Force highest Commendation Certificate’ for his bravery to save BAF valuable Fighter Jet taking life risk and Medal for ‘Extra Ordinary Service’. He also recieved ‘United Nations Medal’ and ‘Certificate for Meritorious Service’ while serving in DR Congo under United Nations where he was responsible for movement and air transportation planning and execution with 78 aircraft and three airlines under his supervision.

From his present position in ICAO, he has specifically assisted 15 States through the ICAO Combined Action Team (CAT) Missions. He has the skill to negotiate very well between the CAA and the Ministry. He worked as a mentor for CAA Thailand and Cambodia for their SSC resolution. Anam invented a software tools named Aviation Safety Reporting and Tracking Management (ASRTM) to run the CAA regulatory activities including Air Operators Certification (AOC) process from desktop.

He is a keen mover of ICAO Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP), contributed from his part silently on ICAO No Country Left Behind (NCLB) programme and acts as the ICAO focal point for Regional Aviation Safety Group (RASG) for Asia-Pacific and Asia-Pacific Regional Aviation Safety Team (APRAST) as well. He serves ICAO as an expert on Aviation Legislation, Organization, Operations, Personnel Licensing and Safety Managment implementation.

Christiaan Hen has spent his entire career in the aviation industry. He worked for over 8 years at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in different roles like Airport Development, Capacity Management and Operations Management. The last three years at Schiphol Christiaan was Head of Innovation. During this time he met Swiss startup company Assaia. Discussions between the airport and Assaia evolved into a partnership between Christiaan and Assaia personally. At the end of 2018 he joined Assaia to become their Chief Customer Officer. In this role he is involved in both business as well as product development. Christiaan uses his extensive knowledge of the aviation industry to further enhance the Apron AI product and make sure that airlines, airports and handlers get value from using it.

operations & training. Mr. Jinah have worked in different management levels moving up
in the chain in Flight Operations, Operations Control Center and Training.

Now the General Manager of Flight Operations, Jinah oversees daily operations of domestic
and international operations on three fleets, at Maldivian, the national carrier of Maldives.

Mr. Jinah has also developed and conduct training programs for Flight Dispatchers and is
a Maldives Civil Aviation Authority’s designated examiner for the issuing Flight Dispatcher
License.
